Kenneth Allan Hiester

Kenneth Allan Hiester, 84, formerly of Brecknock Township, passed away on October 6, 2023, at Phoebe Berks Health Center where he was a resident.

He was the loving husband of Patricia Anne (Miller) Hiester, who passed away January 25, 2023. They were married June 28, 1958 and shared over 64 years together.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Conrad S. Hiester, Sr. and the late Glenna V. (May) Hiester.

He graduated from West Reading High School, Class of 1957. He then served in the United States Navy.

Kenny retired from Carpenter Technology Corporation as a scrapyard foreman in 1995.

In his younger years, Kenny was a high school baseball and football player as well as a swimmer, later playing fastpitch softball. He also bowled and golfed. He enjoyed watching various sporting events on TV. His competitive side was evident on the ball field or when playing games with his kids, especially Yahtzee. He also liked old TV shows and movies, big band music, and the softer sounds of music from acts popular in the 60s and 70s. Along with Pat, he enjoyed hosting family holiday parties and summer picnics and coordinated the annual Hiester family Easter egg hunt. He was an accomplished beer drinker and ice cream consumer!

Kenny is survived by three children: Jay A. (Melanie), Joanne E. Lombardo (Edward), and Jill G. Hiester (John); daughter-in-law Alison Hiester (R. Charles); eight grandchildren: Jenna, Nicholas, Jaclyn, David, Alexis, Marisa, Kaitlyn, and Christopher, and three great-granddaughters: Elsie, Parker, and Zoey. He is also survived by sisters, Wilma S. Holland and Joan M. Gehret, and brother, Joseph G. Hiester. Kenny was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey L. and his brothers, Conrad S. Hiester, Jr. and Elwood A. Hiester.

A special thank you to Alexis, his personal guardian angel, at the Phoebe Berks Health Center.

Graveside services will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Bean Funeral Homes and Crematory, Sinking Spring is charged with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
