Leonard G. Gobright

Leonard G. Gobright, known fondly as Gerry, passed away on April 18, 2026, at St. Francis Hospice House. Born on October 8, 1935, Gerry lived a life marked by dedication, service, and an enduring commitment to his family and community.

A proud Army veteran, Gerry served his country honorably during the Korean War from 1954 to 1955. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and graduated from Villanova in 1958 with a degree in Industrial Engineering, laying a strong foundation for a remarkable career.

Gerry devoted 40 years to corporate sales and management, demonstrating exceptional acumen and leadership. His career included ten years as the owner of a general contracting firm, serving as Vice President of Sales for Consonance Technologies in Reinholds, PA, and dedicating 15 years as a distribution sales manager for GAI-Tronics in Mohnton. His professional accomplishments were paralleled by his passion for hands-on craftsmanship, particularly his talent as an accomplished woodworker and his love for renovating homes in Wyomissing, one house at a time.

Always eager to engage with his community, Gerry’s post-retirement years were marked by meaningful volunteerism. Six months after retiring in 2001, a quest to stay active led him to the Penn State Master Gardener Program, where he became certified in 2002. He played a pivotal role in developing the all-volunteer Reading Public Museum's Arboretum Assistants project in 2003, contributing steadily until 2021. His community service extended to leadership and involvement in numerous organizations, including the Cornwall Terrace Community Association in the 1960s (where he was Past Chair), the Spring Township Planning Commission in the 1970s, Diakon Volunteers Serving Seniors (2000-2015), the Wyomissing Park and Shade Tree Commission (2010-2020), the Wyomissing Meadows Landscape and Architectural Committees, American Legion Post 635 as Post Adjutant since 2014, and Helping Harvest from 2020 onward.

Gerry shared a rich personal life with his beloved wife, Lynda M. Gobright. Together, they experienced the joy of travel, exploring many destinations across the United States, Canada, and Europe. He was a devoted father to John G. Gobright, Julia A. Mastromarino, and Christopher M. Gobright, and cherished the memories of his son Michael W. Gobright, who preceded him in death. Gerry's legacy continues vibrantly through his eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, who brought him great pride and happiness.
