Louella C. Tobias, 98, of Mohnton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her residence on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late John E. Tobias Jr., with whom she shared 42 years of loving marriage before his passing on February 13, 1991.
Born in Blandon on August 17, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Mary (Hiester) Schadler. Louella graduated from Reading High School with the class of 1945. She was employed by the former Two Guys Department Store in Shillington until her retirement in 1981.
Louella could always be found with a smile while crocheting or reading a book. Her home-made pot pie and applesauce was always in demand. Louella’s response to ‘see you later’ was always ‘Be the good Lord willing and the creeks don’t rise’, a Tennessee Ernie Ford favorite.
Louella is survived by her children, Diane M. Wissler, wife of William H. Wissler, of Millersville; Mark D. Tobias, husband of Cindy L. Tobias, of Fleetwood; Neil J. Tobias, husband of Vickie J. Tobias, of Mohnton; Jan L. Franks, wife of Floyd F. Franks, of Mohnton; Timothy J. Tobias, widower of Renee M. Tobias, of Mohnton. Louella was affectionately known as ‘Nana Lou’ to 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Louella is also survived by her brother, Claude Schadler, of Wernersville. She was predeceased by her sisters, Anna Hohl and Geraldine Patrie, and half-sister Ruth Feather.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her name.
