Marian J. Longenecker

Marian J. Longenecker, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on August 9, 1929, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, she was she daughter of the late Henry and Adrianna (Blackstone) Harmsen. Marian lived a life rich in love, service, and commitment to her family and community. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Longenecker, who passed away on December 24, 2023. Together they shared 71 years of marriage. 

Marian earned her Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University in 1951, and she dedicated her professional life to the health care field as a lab technician at Pennsylvania Hospital. Throughout her career, she exemplified a deep commitment to caring for others. Beyond her professional life, Marian was known for her extensive volunteer work and was an active member of the Lincoln Park Methodist Church, the Reading Choral Society, and the Women's Exchange in West Reading. Marian's vibrant spirit and kindness touched the lives of many. 

She is survived by her four cherished children: Jeffrey Longenecker, husband of Jayne; Eric Longenecker, husband of Martha; Jane Rosato, wife of James; and Sharon Penhallegon wife of John; Marian was also a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren.
