Marilyn Ruth Farnsworth, 93, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed into the loving presence of God on February 16, 2026, in Leesburg, Virginia.
Born in Temple, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen R. Ruth and Emily (Kelchner) Ruth. She was married to her beloved husband Glennis Kay Farnsworth for 60 years until his death in 2018.
Marilyn served the Lord for over 60 years as a member of Exeter Bible Fellowship Church, ministering in the choir, Pioneer Girls, children’s church, and Ladies Missionary Fellowship during her time there. She passionately advocated for the church’s missionaries, hosting them in her home while stateside, writing to them, and praying for them daily. She glorified God by reaching out selflessly to her friends and neighbors and taught her children to love and serve Jesus.
After graduating from Bloomsburg University, where she met her husband Glennis in 1955, Marilyn taught first grade for two years at Audubon Elementary School in Eagleville, PA, before dedicating herself to raise her family. Later she worked as a substitute teacher at Exeter Township School District and the Berks County Intermediate Unit.
She is survived by her sister Jeanne Ruth Breitegam, wife of David, of Exeter Township; her children Mark B. Farnsworth, husband of Sherry, of Philippi, West Virginia; Heidi F. Nalle, wife of Edward, of Leesburg, Virginia; Ned S. Farnsworth, husband of Marisol, of Ibarra, Ecuador; and Laura F. McQuaid, wife of Shawn, of Cross Junction, Virginia. Also surviving are grandchildren Emily, Luke, Abigail, John, Matthew, Joel, Amelia, Elias, and Jacob Farnsworth; Lauren Farnsworth-Everhart, Spencer and Mason Nalle, and Cole and Erin McQuaid.
A Memorial Service will be held at Exeter Bible Fellowship Church, 926 Philadelphia Terrace, Birdsboro, PA 19508, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made to Liebenzell Mission USA, P.O. Box 66, Schooley’s Mountain, NJ 07870, with a notation for the ministry of Ned and Marisol Farnsworth.
