It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our older brother, Michael B. Hettinger of Adamstown, PA. He was born February 9, 1950 and passed away on June 27, 2026, at the age of 76 in his Adamstown home from natural causes.

Michael was the son of the late E. Sylvester and Jane A. Hettinger. Michael leaves behind his three siblings, Michelle E (husband Charles Miller), Mitchell S (wife Diane Daniels Hettinger), and Cynthia S (husband Edward LaSota). Michael was uncle to Davoud Bozorgui, Ian and Andrew Hettinger, Caitlin LaSota Fincham, and Matthew Miller. He was a great uncle to Kinsley and Alric Hettinger, Grace and James Fincham, and Henry Miller. Michael grew up in West Wyomissing and was a devoted Boy Scout until he graduated in 1968 from Wilson High School, West Lawn where he was a starting line-backer on the 1967 undefeated Wilson Bulldogs football team, the first unbeaten team in Wilson football history at 10-0. He played for the legendary John Gurski. Michael also played JV baseball for the Bulldogs as a first baseman.

He graduated from Kutztown State College (now University) in 1976 with a B.S. in political science. He was a former Berks County football official. He was a former Democratic committeeman with the Berks County Democratic party. He worked as a radiation technician at Three Mile Island for 25 years, working for Met-Ed and First Energy prior to his retirement. Michael will be remembered as a kind soul and a good guy.
