Ming-Miin Sherry Jiang passed on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She was born on December 12, 1959, in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She was the oldest of three children, born to Da-Chung Shen (Father) and Yue-Hua Hong (Mother).
Growing up, Sherry was a straight-A athletic student, excelling in long jump and volleyball competitions and winning awards in speech and singing competitions. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance and tax from National Chengchi University, a top university in Taiwan.
Sherry married her husband, Jong-Dii (J.D.) on December 25, 1983. After moving to the U.S., Sherry received a master’s degree in computer science at Villanova University. Together, Sherry and J.D. raised their two daughters. Sherry found joy in life’s simple pleasures – like enjoying a good movie, listening to her daughters play violin and piano, taking walks, and making (and eating) hand-made dumplings and noodles with her family. She treasured her two sisters, dreaming of spending time with them on a cross-country train trip one day. Her sisters remember her as curious and passionate with the determination to stand up for what was right. Sherry remained loyal to her childhood friends, whom she called often. She was a member of the Placeamus Deo group in the greater Philadelphia area, where she enjoyed many lasting warm friendships.
In the last fifteen years, Sherry worked as an institutional research coordinator at Reading Area Community College. She was well-respected by her colleagues for her attention to detail, diligence, and trustworthiness.
Throughout her cancer treatment, Sherry was resolute. Her strength and courage were never more apparent than during her illness. She faced her challenges with bravery that inspired us all. She passed peacefully, knowing how much she was loved by her family and friends. In her last days, she cherished her memories. Sherry was 64.
Sherry is survived by her husband, J.D.; daughters, Jennifer and Maria; and three grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Ming-Fen and Ming-Shan.
The funeral service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Avenue, Sinking Spring, on Saturday January 13, 2024 at 11:00 am. Colorful attire is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reading Area Community College.
