Nancy Louise Harding

It is with deep and heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Louise Harding, who journeyed from this earthly world to the home of our heavenly Father on December 10, 2025, after a two-year courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on August 27, 1936, in Reading, Pennsylvania, Nancy was the daughter of the late John F. Schollenberger Sr. and Adelaide M. (Sweitzer) Schollenberger. She is survived by her husband, William L. Harding of West Lawn, Pa. They were married for 58 wonderful years.

Nancy was a graduate of Reading High School Class of 1954. In her early teenage years, she carried our country’s colors in the Reading Drum and Bugle Corps, where she met her life-long best friend Barb. After she married, Nancy worked as a seamstress for Astor Knitting in Reading, Pa. for over 25 years crafting swimwear.

She was a member of St. John’s (Hain’s) Church in Wernersville, Pa., where she served as an elder for several years, served as a greeter and assisted with the collection of the offering, as well as assisted with distributing communion to the congregation.Nancy is survived by her daughter, Stacy L. Miller of Wernersville, Pa. and her son Scott F. Schollenberger Sr. of Robesonia, Pa. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Aaron and Norene Miller and Scott F. Schollenberger Jr. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, John F. Schollenberger Jr. and her two great grandchildren Maxwell and Cameron Schollenberger.

An animal lover, Nancy owned many pets over the years. There was quite a menagerie of cats and each one held a special place in her heart. She found joy in their companionship and she loved to feed them their “cookies” (cat treats). In her early retirement years, she passed the time by crocheting blankets for her family. The one lifelong hobby that Nancy had was reading; she loved to read whether it be books or magazines.

As we remember Nancy, may we celebrate her life lived fully, the stories she shared of the past and her gentle way of showing love. She taught us the meaning of love, devotion, strength and courage. “Mom, you are the strongest person I know. You will forever be in our hearts.

”Donations in memory of Nancy can be made to One By One Cat Rescue, PO Box 272, Temple, Pa. 19560 or the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks, 529 Reading Ave, Suite C, West Reading, Pa. 19611.
