Nancy J. Slamon

Nancy J. Slamon, 88, formerly of Shillington, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 at 9:40 am at Maidencreek Place.  She was the wife of the late Edward N. Slamon who passed away May 13, 2012.  Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Slamon was the daughter of the late Ernest and Selma (Cihasky) Henschel.  She was a member of Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.  Mrs. Slamon was a Stewardess for United Airlines then was employed by the United States Census Bureau in Berks County as a census employee until her retirement.  She is survived by her children Janet E. Covely wife of Brian T. Covely of Cumru Township; Richard E. Slamon husband of Dorothy R. Diehl-Slamon of West Chester and was preceded in death by her son Robert E. Slamon.  Mrs. Slamon is also survived by her grandchildren Danielle, Nicholas, David, Jeffrey, Laura and her great grandson Pierce.  Also surviving are her siblings Warren Henschel husband of Merile Henschel of Houston, Texas; Elsie McGowan wife of Ed McGowan of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Adele McDougall wife of Gerald McDougall of Spooner, Wisconsin and John Henschel husband of MaryJane Henschel of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church Kerrick & Mitti Roads, Shillington, Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 10:00 am.  Reverend Edward J. Essig, Celebrant.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Tuesday from 9:00 am to 9:45 am.  A luncheon will follow the service at a location TBD.   Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
