Nancy Elizabeth Lark Schulze, 81, formerly of Towson, MD, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, in Phoebe Berks, Wernersville, PA. Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dr. William Schulze and Monette Atkinson. She was the wife of the late Maurice Rottenberg, who passed away in 2004. Lark graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Sweet Briar College. She also received her Master of Arts in English from Brown University. Lark received her Juris Doctor from The University of Cincinnati in 1982. She worked as an attorney for the law firm of Venable, Baejter and Howard in Baltimore for several years, as well as health care counsel for the firm of Hanysworth, Sinkler, and Boyd PA of Greenville, SC. She was self-employed, practicing health care law in Baltimore before retiring.

Lark was instrumental in the creation of “The Red Devils", Maryland based charity devoted to assisting families of persons diagnosed with breast cancer. She was also generous, donating her time and resources to numerous causes. Lark was an avid reader and would read anything she could get her hands on. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, hosting dinner parties for her friends, indulging her cats, tending to her gardens, and watching birds. Lark enjoyed traveling immensely. Among her favorite destinations were Peru, China, India, and Russia. She was always looking for her next adventure.

Lark is survived by her son, Michael Cowling, husband of Sara of Reading, PA, her grandchildren, Natalie, Andrew, and Griffin, her brother, William Schulze Jr., husband of Priscilla of Greenville, SC, niece, Allison Stack, and nephew, Will Schulze. Lark is predeceased by her daughter, Jessica H. Cowling, who passed away in 2002.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or by mail at 225 N.
