Patricia Ann (Ryder) Price, 85, of Cumru Township, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Country Meadows, Wyomissing. Born on Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late, George A. Ryder and Ann (Sauter). Patricia graduated from Webster Groves High School (MO) in 1958 and continued her schooling at the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing (Brooklyn, NY) graduating in 1961. A licensed RN, Patricia went on to achieve her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Kutztown University in 1990, after which she earned her accreditation as a Certified Occupational Health Nurse – Specialist. Patricia was an active member and past President of both the Berks County Occupation Health Nurses and the Northeast Employee Health Nurses. She was also a charter member of Kutztown University’s chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, a national nursing honor society. “Once a nurse, always a nurse”, rang true for Patricia, who devoted her career to hospital nursing across several states. Pat retired from The Reading Hospital and Medical Center after 31 years of service as a staff nurse, Head Nurse and their first Employee Health Nurse.
Pat had a passion for travel that took her across the world. She enjoyed historic and cultural sites and marveled at natural wonders. She toured the continental US, Hawaii, Canada and Europe with friends. She collected giraffe figurines and was thrilled to see those long-necked creatures in the African wild on a special trip with her granddaughter. Her trips to Walt Disney World were her special opportunity to introduce her grandkids to Mickey Mouse. Pat was an avid conchologist. She took many snorkeling trips to collect seashells in exotic locales and was an active member of the CenPenn Beachcombers Shell Club. Her other favorite pastimes were bird watching and gardening. Pat was an active member of Schwarzwald U.C.C. and enjoyed attending worship services there.
She is survived by her children: Deborah A. Dietrich, wife of Harold, of Sinking Spring, Mark G. Price, of McAlisterville; and grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: George H. Dietrich, Laura A. Botek, wife of Kyle, and Amanda K. Price. In addition to her parents, Patricia is predeceased by her former husband, Jere G. Price.
