Patricia Ann (Althouse) Spatz, 91, of Reinholds, formerly of Pennside, Lower Alsace, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at The Reading Hospital. She was the loving wife to Wilmer C. Spatz, for over 54 years of marriage, before his passing on June 18, 2005. Born in Tuckerton, PA, on October 18, 1934, Patricia was the daughter of the late, George Althouse, and Ida Mae (Clauser).
Patricia lived a very active life serving in many roles; Shoemakersville Fire Company Auxiliary Vice President / Member, State Firemen's Auxiliary Member, Auxiliary President at Kunkel-Woerner VFW Post 8425, Berks County Firemen's Auxiliary Recording Secretary, Den Mother Pack 163 Shoemakersville, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Fashion Frocks Home Style Shows 1966 - 1979, Berks County Children Services - Personal In-Home Care, Berks Women in Crisis Volunteer, Antietam School District Teachers Aid - Retired in 2008, Ready Set Read - SpringRose Child Care, and Youth Aid Panel - South Heidelberg Township.
Patricia and Wilmer were also Owner & Operator of Triangle Beer Distributor, Kerosene Heater Doctor (2 Locations and a weekly stand at the Leesport Farmers Market), and 4 Apartment Buildings / 28 Units in total, that Patricia managed.
Patricia also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hosting & preparing Holiday meals, her summer home in Delaware, fishing & boating, vacationing with Wilmer and family, bowling, billiards, shuffleboard, card games. She also enjoyed watching TV, especially classic and old western movies. Patricia played the piano as well, which she learned to play by ear.
Patricia is survived by her children, Sheila A. Doran, wife of Rodger, of Douglassville, Donna K. Glover, wife of Peter, of Denver, PA, Linda M. Broome, wife of Kenneth of Harrisburg, and Kerry L. Spatz, of Reinholds whom she resided with for the past 18 years and cared for later in life until her passing. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jeffrey Spatz, Rachel Schriner, wife of Nicholas, Derek Broome, husband of Jessica, great grandchildren, Aidan, Patrick, Haylee, Lillee, Ryelee, Evan, Ella, Allie, soon to be born Collin, and Colson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia is predeceased by her son, Eugene W. Spatz, grandchildren, Samantha Glover, Phillip Glover, and her 10 siblings.
A Celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 4:00 PM in Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring.
