Paul Frank Mazzotta, innovator and entrepreneur, 74, of Reading passed away peacefully on Friday April 22, 2022 at Reading Hospital. Born in Terrati Italy, Paul was the son of the late Francesco and Gemma (Maio) Mazzotta. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean Antoinette (Mastromonaco) Mazzotta. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mazzotta is survived by his daughter Nicola M. Townsend of Devon (husband Kenny), his son Paul Mazzotta Jr. of Reading and three grandchildren; Olivia, Ella, and Sadie. He is also survived by his sister Maria, sister Anna and a brother Joe. He was preceded in death by his brother Casimiro, sister Carmella, sister Rosa, brother Ralph and sister Louisa. Paul came to the USA at the age of 11 from a tiny village in Calabria, Italy, and achieved the “American Dream.” He was known as a pioneer in the beauty industry, responsible for setting several hairstyle and hair color trends as well as developing award winning products for brands such as Matrix, Paul Mitchell and Clairol. In the early years of his career, he was a platform artist, traveling around the world educating hairstylists. Paul ran a successful chain of hair salons and then went on to develop the first eco-friendly line of hair care using natural ingredients; the roots of the formulas based on his mother’s natural soap recipes. This lead to establishing a manufacturing business where he produced beauty products for brands in mass retail, HSN and QVC. Paul filed many patents for his formulations and was awarded one for his proprietary fragrance treatment complex. He was cutting edge and was always ahead of his time. How fitting that he passed away on Earth Day. As an entrepreneur, Paul’s work did not stop at the beauty industry. He was also a real estate developer, responsible for building several communities. Paul was always reading and researching ways to improve his formulas as well as overall health and wellness. He enjoyed cooking and insisted on using only fresh ingredients. Paul was always working and the only time he relaxed was when he was at the Jersey shore or spending time with his family. He has touched so many lives not only with his career, but also with his huge and loving heart. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. A private celebration of life memorial service will be held at a future date at the convenience of the family. Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Inc., 129 E. Lancaster Avenue Shillington are handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Paul’s memory to: American Lung Association https://www.lung.org/
