Phyllis E. Kalina

Phyllis E. Kalina (Vilardo), 90, of Reading, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at her sister’s home. She was the loving wife to Stephen R. “Butch” Kalina, for over 45 years of marriage before his passing on October 29, 2005. Born in Reading, Phyllis was the daughter of the late, Philip Vilardo and Josephine (Genova). Phyllis was a supervisor at Penn Optical manufacturing for over 20 years, before her retirement.

She loved shopping and traveling with her husband, Butch, especially to Disney World, golf/bowling tournaments or going on cruises. Phyllis enjoyed playing the lottery and going to church, but most of all she loved to laugh and to be silly around her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her sister, Dorothy H. Marabella, nieces and nephews, Michelle Snyder (James), Philip Marabella (Stephanie), Michael Vilardo (Alynda) and Sharon Gundersen (Paul), and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Stephen, Phyllis is predeceased by brother, Michael J. Vilardo (Betty) and nephew, John M. Marabella (Kathy).

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C.C. 2600 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19609. Entombment to follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Chapel of St. George. The family will receive relatives and guests in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C.C. from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Phyllis’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
