Raymond Lawrence Everhart

Raymond Lawrence Everhart, 89, of Shillington, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at The Reading Hospital with his loving family by his side. Raymond was the husband to Patricia Anne (Oliver) for over 65 years, before her passing on December 14, 2019. Born in Birdsboro, Raymond was the son of the late Raymond Clarence Everhart and Catherine (Nowatzke). Raymond served in the United States Army, after which he  worked as a Technical Engineer for Bell Labs until his retirement in 1986. When he was not working, he was busy building his home in Fleetwood,  He was a numismatist, and enjoyed traveling to coin shows along the  east coast. He also loved to go to his camper that resided along the Indian River inlet at Tuckahoe Acres camping resort.  He was known to many of the summer residents as "The Watermelon man", for he would bring pick-up truck loads of watermelons to the campground and sell them from the bed of his truck. His other love was politics. He served as a delegate or alternate delegate at some of the Republican National Presidential Conventions from the early 70's through the late 90's.

Raymond is survived by his daughters, Sharon M. Brunner, wife of Michael, of Mohnton, Linda A. Obcamp, wife of Lance, of Westminster MD, and Cynthia G. Everhart, wife of John Conroy, of Los Angeles CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeannine Niebel, Jennifer Bell, Brandi Hawk, Daniel Obcamp, Zachary Obcamp, Matthew Obcamp and 7 great grandchildren.
