Renee Marie Brzostek (nee Quigley) passed away on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at 11:01 PM, after a ten year battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Mark Brzostek and devoted mother of Sarah and Kevin Brzostek. Renee is also survived by her parents, Curtis and Ann Quigley of Myrtle Beach, SC. and three sisters, Stephanie Danesie of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michelle Trond of Melbourne, FL and Jackie Lanphear of Bel Air, MD. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Baltimore, MD. Renee graduated from Bel Air Senior High School and Essex Community College with an A.A. degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Renee worked part time for a veterinarian, paying her way through college before accepting a full time position in the microbiology laboratory at John Hopkins Hospital.
When Mark and Renee married on Oct. 10, 1987, they made their home in Berks County. Renee spent time working at MDS and Accutech Laboratories in Reading. Renee decided to give up her laboratory career to devote herself to Sarah and Kevin as a stay at home mom. She has performed various volunteer roles over the years, including Lorane Elementary School, Berks County Heritage Center, Exeter Community Library, Reading Public Museum, and Berks Encore.
Renee enjoyed traveling with her family, having visited all fifty states. She also traveled to London, Paris, Alberta, CA, and Ireland. As an avid hiker, Renee hiked many trails with her family in the National Park System. She also enjoyed hiking on the Klapperthal trail in Exeter Twp. and Nolde Forest. Daily, she spent time riding her bike and walking two miles each evening around her neighborhood.
Renee was a member of St. Catharine of Siena, Roman Catholic Church. She was a volunteer in the PREP Program for nine years. She also volunteered for St. Mary’s Pierogi Fundraising Program.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine of Siena, Roman Catholic Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606, on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will be held privately at Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends in St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, on Friday, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM.
