Richard Angstadt

Richard Weiser Angstadt, 83, of Leesport and formerly of Reading, passed away October 10, 2010 at 9:35 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center. He was the husband of Catherine (Gift) Angstadt for 57 years. Born in Reading on July 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Catherine A. (Weiser) Angstadt.

Mr. Angstadt was a 1945 graduate of Reading School and a Marine veteran of World War 2.

He was employed for 27 years in the Reading Police Department retiring as a Lieutenant. He also organized the Security Department at the Berks County Court House working there for 10 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 brothers John P. Angstadt of McLean, VA and Karl J. Angstadt of Leesport and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Kathryn V. (Angstadt) Snyder.

He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, a life member of the Berks County Chiefs of Police Association, Rajah Shrine Club, Shrine of North America, Shriners International, Creigh Council #16 R4SM, Reading Royal Arch Charpter # 152, Knights Temple # 009 and Reading Lodge # 549 F&AM.
