Richard W. Harper, 95, of South Heidelberg Township, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 4:30 am at the Heritage at Green Hills Memory Care Unit.  He was the husband of Betty J. (Mast) Harper.  Born in Reading, Mr. Harper was the son of the late Richard A. and Jennie (Hinnershitz) Harper.  He was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School and was a member of One United Church of Christ in Kenhorst.  Mr. Harper served in the United States Army during the Korean War and later was employed by Met Ed in Reading for 41 years last working as a line department supervisor until his retirement in 1989.  He served as Past President of the Kenhorst Lions Club and was a member and Past Master of Chandler Lodge #227 F&AM.  In addition to his wife, Mr. Harper is survived by his children Donna L. Spayd of Sinking Spring; Scott C. Harper husband of Brenda A. Harper of Mohnton; Robin L. Bradt wife of C. Alan Bradt of Reinholds and was preceded in death by his son Richard A. Harper, January 22, 2012.  He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and was preceded in death by his siblings Robert E. Harper, Dorothy Gromis and Merril Harper. 

Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 am.  Reverend Dr. Robert Stewart will officiate.  Interment with Military Honors rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Crematory Friday from 10:00 am to 10:45 am with a Masonic Service conducted by Chandler Lodge #227 F&AM at 10:45 am.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to One United Church of Christ 1730 New Holland Road, Kenhorst, PA 19607 or Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 in memory of Mr. Richard W.
