ROBERT R. ZEILER SR
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Raymond Zeiler Sr. Robert passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on May 31, 2026. He was 89 years of age.
A native of Pennsylvania, Robert,was born on March 9, 1937. He was predeceased in death by his mother, Dorothy Edith (Poticher) Zeiler and his father Oscar Henry Zeiler, and four of his siblings; John, Virginia, Michael, and William, all from Pottsville.
On January 25, 1955, at the age of 17, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the USS Randolph CVA-15, USS Forrestal CVA-59, USS John F. Kennedy CVA-67 and USS Brumby DE1044. During his service aboard the Brumby, he received an appointment to Chief Warrant Officer from the Secretary of the Navy. Three years later, Robert accepted a position with Bechtel Power Corporation. He worked at seven different nuclear power plants in the United States, his family traveled with him. He retired from his most current assignment as Senior Startup Test Engineer at Savannah River Site Nuclear Facility in South Carolina on September 30, 1993.
In addition to his wife Patricia (McNulty) Zeiler, his memory is cherished by his children Robert Raymond Zeiler Jr., Reading, and Michelle (Zeiler) Ritzman, wife of Todd, Reading, and granddaughter Avery Ritzman. Also surviving is his sister Shirley (Zeiler) Mason, wife of John, Pottsville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center (10V) 1700 South Lincoln Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042 in Memory of Mr. Robert R. Zeiler.
Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services 129 East Lancaster Ave. Shillington, Saturday June 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm with Interment to follow at Laureldale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Saturday June 6, 2026 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
