Ronald D. Boyer

Ronald David Boyer, 78, of Schuylkill County, passed away on September 11, 2026. Ron was a husband, father, grandfather, veteran, fisherman, and woodworker, but to the people who loved him most, he was simply 'Dad' and 'Pop Pop.'

Ron was the son of Floyd and Fae (Quinter) Boyer. Born in Reading, he grew up in West Lawn and graduated from Wilson High School. After high school, Ron went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He served from1967 to 1971 and was a Vietnam War veteran.

After his military service, Ron spent many years working for Georgia-Pacific before retiring.

Ron was the kind of person who could figure things out. He was incredibly handy and loved woodworking, fixing things, and taking on a project just to see if he could make it work. He was an avid fisherman, drawn to the quiet, the water, and the patience that fishing required.

Those who knew Ron knew his sense of humor, too. He was a jokester with a dry, sarcastic wit and a knack for saying just enough to make you laugh. That sense of humor was one of the many things that made him uniquely Ron.

More than anything, Ron loved his family. He was fiercely protective of the people he loved and adored being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was especially proud to be a Pop Pop and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren, watching them grow and being part of their lives.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, whom he married in 1981; his children, Tara (Boyer) Whited, Brett Boyer and Kevin Boyer; his step-children and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Fae Boyer.

Ron will be deeply missed by the people who knew him best. His family will remember his humor, his ability to fix almost anything, and the way he always looked out for the people he loved. They will carry those pieces of him with them, along with the countless memories that made him their Dad and Pop Pop.

In lieu of flowers, consider doing something that will grow and live on in Ron’s memory, such as planting a tree, spending a day outdoors, or making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
