Sara “Sally” A. Warren, MD, 85, passed away Saturday April 18, 2026, surrounded by family at her residence in the Heritage at Green Hills. She was the wife of the late Jerry Jung and the daughter of the late James and Anna (Frederick) Warren.
Sally was raised in Oreland, PA. An only child, she was told by a guidance counselor she was "not college material". She went on to attend Chestnut Hill College. Prior to medical school, she worked as a lab technician at a local hospital and as a research assistant at Johnsville evaluating the effect of G-forces on hormones.
She graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1966, in the second class of graduating women. Dr. Warren completed her internship at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and residency in psychiatry at Norristown State Hospital. She subspecialized in forensic, addiction, and geriatric psychiatry. She worked days at NSH in the forensic unit, and nights at a methadone clinic, retiring in 2004.
Dr. Warren was heavily involved in the Pennsylvania Doctor’s Alliance, eventually becoming its president. She was also involved in the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees, an association responsible for negotiating benefits for pensioners.
She and Jerry raised two daughters who followed her into medicine. Sally was known as a devoted animal lover, for her fondness of gardening and a particular love of shopping and high-quality fashion.
Sally is survived by her daughters Jennifer W. Jung, MD, wife of Christopher E. Choi of Wyomissing and Melissa W. Jung, MD, wife of David L. Broudy of Morgantown, West Virginia and her 4 grandchildren, AJ, Eva, Jeri and James.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home, 129 East Lancaster Ave Shillington Friday April 24, 2026, at 11:00 am. Amy S. Landis, Celebrant will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Bean Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 3:00 pm at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
