Shirley Mae Buckwalter

Shirley Mae Buckwalter, 90, of Brecknock Township Mohnton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 3:45 pm at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Home, Narvon, Lancaster County. She was the wife of the late Martin B. Buckwalter who passed away September 17, 2005. Born in Fivepointville Lancaster County, Mrs. Buckwalter was the daughter of the late Leon W. and Fern B. (Bachman) Schnader. She retired as manager at Turkey Hill Minit Markets in Knauers, and then spent more time doing the things she loved the most, which included good times with family and enjoying her lifelong passion for everything to do with horses. If you ever went to visit her at home, you could bet you would find her in the horse barn.

Mrs. Buckwalter is survived by her children Randolph L. Buckwalter of Brecknock Township Mohnton; Sandra L. Ansel of Narvon; Martin J. Buckwalter husband of Cindy Buckwalter of Ephrata; Kim E. Lessley with whom she last resided, and her 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Laraine “Cookie” Rutt of North Carolina; her brother John Schnader husband of Margaret Schnader of Lititz and was preceded in death by her sister Marian Strausser.
