Stephen P. Corvaia

Stephen P. Corvaia, 81, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 in the home he built with his wife, Polly, surrounded by family.

Steve was born on D-Day, June 6, 1944, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Philip and Violet Corvaia. He married his wife, Polly (Tucci) Corvaia, on June 19, 1997. He lived a full life shaped by his passion for music, the outdoors, service, and family.

He is best known for his contributions to bluegrass music in Pennsylvania. Steve played a key role in spearheading bluegrass festivals throughout the region, bringing musicians and audiences together year after year. As owner and operator of the Blue Marsh Inn, he established a lasting venue for live bluegrass and folk music. For many musicians and fans, the Blue Marsh Inn became a familiar gathering place and a cornerstone of the regional bluegrass scene.

Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Indiana Northern University in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Army, 1st Infantry Division, from 1967 to 1969. His military service remained an important part of his life.

After his time running the Blue Marsh Inn, Steve worked as a land surveyor, a career that kept him outdoors and closely connected to the land.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time at his cabin in upstate Pennsylvania, and making regular trips to Chincoteague, Virginia, where he first fished with his parents and later continued the tradition with his own family. He was devoted to his wife, Polly Corvaia, a proud father to Ryan Corvaia and Erin Corvaia, and a loving grandfather to Cyrus and Flora Hicks. He treasured the time he spent with them. He is remembered for the music he helped bring to life, the places he built, and the family he loved.
