Thomas James Stone, 83, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at The Reading Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband to Barbara Jean (Clark) Stone, for over 60 years. Born in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late, Leon James Stone and Mary Catherine (Koehler). After graduating high school, Tom went on to serve in the United States Airforce. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Tom placed his family at the center of his life. He was deeply guided by his faith in God, which shaped his character, his service to others, and the way he lived each day—with humility, integrity, and kindness.
Tom was a lifelong educator whose passion for learning never waned. He earned his PhD and dedicated his career to teaching, mentoring, and inspiring students at the high school and college levels. He believed strongly in the power of education to change lives and took great pride in helping others reach their potential.
His curiosity, discipline, and love of knowledge left a lasting impact on colleagues and students alike.
Beyond his professional life, Tom embraced a wide range of interests. He had a lifelong love of aviation and found joy in understanding the science of flight. He was an enthusiastic HAM radio operator who valued communication, connection, and technical skill. He also enjoyed shooting sports, appreciating the discipline, focus, and responsibility they required.
Above all, Tom will be remembered for his steady presence, his thoughtful guidance, and his unwavering love for those closest to him. His faith, intellect, and generosity of spirit will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Tom is survived by his children, David Lee Stone, husband of Valentina, of Germantown, MD, Jeffrey T. Stone, husband of Eva, of Sinking Spring, Catherine E. Laboski, wife of Kevin, of Quakertown, and Rebecca L. Clark, wife of Jeremy, of Sinking Spring. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren, and daughter in law, Amy Stone, of Morgantown, PA.
Tom is predeceased by his children, Alan James Stone, and Sharon Jean Stone, as well as his sister, Mary Siver.
