Vincent F. Mercurio

Vincent F. Mercurio, 75, of Wyomissing, formerly of Hershey and Womelsdorf, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Hospital.  

Born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Vincent was the son of the late Dr. Frank and Ann M. (Ruscio) Mercurio. Vincent graduated from York College of Pennsylvania in 1972. He remained involved with the college after graduation as an active and generous financial supporter of the college. He created and funded a scholarship program in the School of Nursing in honor of his parents. He served on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and received honors and awards in recognition of his service to the college.

Vincent worked for over thirty years as a quality/inventory specialist at the Defense Depot Susquehanna. He was a music lover, both as an audience member and as a performer. He sang in the Reading Choral Society and the Hummelstown Community Chorus for many years and was an officer in both organizations. He travelled extensively for business and pleasure and was an avid reader.

Vincent was calm, compassionate, and generous. His quiet friendliness and sincerity drew people to him. His life centered around his family, to whom he was devoted, and friends from every sphere of his life. He spent his last ten months at Country Meadows Wyomissing, where he quickly made many new friends among staff and fellow residents.   

Vincent is survived by his siblings Frank J. Mercurio and wife Melinda D. Mercurio, of Phoenixville; Dr. Teresa M. Mercurio, of Wyomissing; and Thomas Mercurio and wife Helen Head, of South Burlington, Vermont.
