Walter L. Henderson

Walter Lee Henderson, affectionately known as Walt, was born February 27, 1946, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Dorothy Henderson Key and William Myers.  Walt departed this life Tuesday, January 20, 2026, after a brief illness.  Walt was a passionate golfer and traveled frequently with his golfing circle of friends. He was also a devoted Carolina Tar Heels and UConn Huskies women’s basketball fan. He retired from Carpenter Technology after dedicating 33 years of service. He is survived by a loving family who will continue to honor his life and memory: his wife, Marlene Henderson, of 58 years; one daughter, LaShawnda (Brian) France; two grandsons, Michael Henderson and Marques Henderson; sister-in-law, Barbara (Algiefields) Cain; and brother-in-law ,Franklin Brown, both of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; devoted and caring cousins, Stephanie Myers, Jacqueline Myers, Horace (Audrey) Myers, and Adrian Myers of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his cousin Robert E. Myers.  The family extends their sincere gratitude to Jeanette Torres, a family friend and devoted nurse. Also, to Tower Health Hospice & Palliative Care for their compassionate care and support.  Funeral services will be held at Bean Funeral Home on January 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM  Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery.
