Betty Rickenbach

Betty J. Rickenbach, 98, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late J. Robert Rickenbach, Jr. who passed away on November 4, 2016.

Born in Shillington, she was the daughter of the late Norman Robert and Catherine Trostle (Holtry) Dunkelberger. She was a graduate of Shillington High School.

During her early adult life, she worked at the Arrow Shirt factory as a sewing machine operator and much later worked for seven years at Sears in telephone sales.

Betty was a lifelong member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shillington. She was a former Choir member and served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Betty was also a member and secretary for 2 years for the J.G. Travelers camping club.

She was an artisan and crafter, creating items for Avenue 4 Accessories in Shillington. Betty enjoyed playing Pinochle with her sons-in-law, board games with her daughters and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and food enthusiast.

Above all she was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Janice E. Maulick, wife of Robert W. of Denver, PA; Karen A. Nein, of Shillington; Loren L. Eisenhofer, wife of Dale M., of Mohnton; Marcie S. Bilger, wife of Leonard E. II. “Chip”, of Lower Heidelberg Township; grandchildren Gary Breneman, Thomas Breneman, Matthew Shaw, Sr., Drew Eisenhofer, Erin Readinger, Terra Clark and Forrest Clark; and great-grandchildren, Mallorie, Noah, Matthew, Justin, Cerina, Derian, Brixton, Greyson, Everett, Helen and Elise. Betty was predeceased by her brother Norman Harry Dunkelberger.

Betty’s family appreciates the loving care given to her through Compassus Hospice and Assured Assistance.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church 30 Liberty Street Shillington, PA 19607 on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10:00am. Rev. Colleen Cox will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:00am-10:00am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made to www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
