Catherine Armstead a beloved mother passed away August 24th after a year long battle with lung cancer. Catherine was born September 25th 1955 in New Haven Connecticut and spent the last 30 years as a resident of Pennsylvania after moving to care for her ailing grandmother.

Catherine was born to Ernest James and Helene Armstead whom she cared for until they passed. She is survived by her only child Justyn Armstead.

Catherine graduated from New Haven University and spent most of her life working as a travel agent. After the horrific events of 9/11 she transitioned to managing a recycling center which she did until she passed.

Catherine was a proud single mother who devoted her entire being to supporting her son and family. Her selflessness knew no bounds and she treated strangers as friends--willing sacrifice anything to bring universal happiness. If character is graded by how we treated the most desperate in our midst then she was a paragon we could all aspire to. Her empathy was a driving force in her life and even though she is no longer here; her spirit of compassion lives on in everyone she met and the world is brighter for having housed her. She lived as an example we should all aspire to. The world is infinitely brighter as long as her spirit of compassion lives on in those she touched or those who follow her example. Rest in peace Catherine.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
