Janet E. (Fritch) Unger, 81, of Reading passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 8, 2022 in Elizabethtown Masonic Village. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen E. (Kissinger) Fritch. Janet was the wife of the late Norman A. Unger they were married 49 years, who passed away May 25, 2014. She worked as a Bank Teller for the Bank of Pennsylvania for 40 years then retired as a Payroll Clerk for Penske after 12 years. Janet was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. One of her biggest accomplishments was being a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was a member of John Helper Chapter 521, where she was a past matron, then transferred to Conrad Weiser Chapter 449. She was also a life member of the Liberty Fire Company, Rod & Gun Womelsdorf, and Cushion Peak. Her and her husband, Mutt loved to go to the clubs to socialize with friends. She loved her family and cherished every moment with her grandson, Tyler.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Christie L. Herbein, wife of Steven of Reading, and her grandson, Tyler. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Anna Mae and Lee Fritch.
