Mary Rivera

Mary Katherine Rivera (Leuchtenberg), 79, of Reading, PA peacefully went home to Jesus on January 29th, 2021. Mary was born on October 26th, 1941 to Warren and Clara Leuchtenberg in Lexington, Illinois. After graduating as the valedictorian of Lexington High School in 1959, her motivations led her to multiple career ventures such as singing, massage therapy, court reporting, and owning her own businesses including AAA Reality for over 30 years.

Mary married David Barnett in 1961 and they had two sons, Mike and Steve. She later moved to Pennsylvania in 1995 and met Jay Rivera in 1999. They were married in 2002 to spend 20 beautiful years together in her dream house.

Mary’s most precious time was spent with her family members, whom she loved unconditionally; Mary also enjoyed playing piano and organ, playing tennis and cards, hiking, and attending church. Throughout her entire life, she held a devout faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.  She talked about the glory of heaven and knew that death would not be the end.

Mary joins her mother, father, and her beloved Aunt Sis in Heaven. She is survived by her husband Jay, her sons and their wives, Mike and Kori and Steve and Elisha, their children Dayna, Andrew, Mitch, Katie, Kristen and Josh, her step-daughter Christina, her son Xavier and  six great-grandchildren.  She also left behind three sisters and one brother.

Bean Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 6 Fairlane Rd Exeter Twp. is handling the arrangements. The family requests that donations may be sent to Helping Harvest Food Bank at 117 Morgan Dr, Reading, PA 19608 or flowers to Berks Bible Church, at 29 E Lancaster Ave, Shillington, PA 19607, where her celebration of life will be held on February 13th at 11 am.
