Dignified Funeral and Cremation Services

Welcome to... Our Family Heritage of Service

In 1946, Robert E. and the late Jacqueline D. Bean moved to Reading from Lebanon County. Robert quickly found his first job as a funeral director, but was soon drafted to serve in the Korean War. After serving as an Artillery Sergeant, Robert returned to Reading only to find that his job had been taken by someone else. So he and Jacqueline decided to open their own funeral home, and in December 1955, they founded the first Bean Funeral Home in Berks County. It was difficult at the beginning. In their first year, they served only four families, and both the Beans held other jobs to make ends meet. But soon, their caring, compassionate service, their attention to detail, and their philosophy of completely providing for the needs of families allowed the funeral establishment to grow. Today, under the leadership of their son Kevin, Bean Funeral Homes serve Pennsylvania families from four convenient suburban locations with their own crematory and a wide array of commemorative choices.
